Pre-Consumer waste bags are HOT!
I was oogling over my friend's cute tote bag the other day and it turns out that it they are made from pre-consumer waste...it may not sound sexy to some, but to someone like me who is trying to make eco-friendly purchases, I was giddy.
Bazura Bags is a women’s cooperative in the Philippines that utilizizes ‘Pre-Consumer’ waste packaging gathered from juice container manufacturers and used advertising banners in and around Manila. This waste material is normally deposited into landfills.
The co-op cleans the used materials and recycles them into these great bags! Way to take poor recycling systems and find a positive spin! Great holiday gift too...

I love this idea. Let's all get a bag or several and use them when we shop.
Every thing we do makes a big difference.
Great Blog.

I guess these are catching on all over. I am a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and a couple groups of artisans have started making them available in small scale here. Good business and great way to recycle.
Cool bags!! I need one or two!
I have one from Ecoist, made from repurposed candy wrappers. I get compliments each time I use it!
I crochet shopping bags from plastic grocery, bread, and other bags. It uses about 50-70 bags, (which come my way from others who, for some reason, don't use cloth shopping bags). The bags are then donated to our Grans to Grans group, which raises funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation (which supports projects in Africa, particularly in aid of grandmothers caring for AIDS orphans). great feedback!!! thank you!!!!
When I was in the Philippines in June I picked up 2 of these bags! They are great and easy to keep clean! (go figure!)
Its a great way to reuse waste and create something useful!
