Pure Prevention - Help Reduce your Chances of Breast Cancer
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the team at Breast Cancer Fund, Luna Bar and Pure Prevention have joined forces to help fight the fight by preventing breast cancer in the first place!
There are easy steps that can be taken to help prevent Breast Cancer, many are simply conscious choices:
1. Create a Healthy Home - Be conscious and make wise choices about your household cleaners, furnishings and pest killers. We breathe all that crud you know!!!
2. Eat Smart - We are what we eat, including the chemicals in our food. Before you fill that grocery cart up, think before you buy. Buy quality food, your body will love you for it!
3. Choose Safe Cosmetics - The makeup we buy matters. Some of the industry's worst offenders include nail polish, hair dye, hair relaxer and skin lighteners. For a list of save cosmetics, visit Skin Deep
4. Get Outside - The air indoors can be really toxic, mix it up, breathe fresh air and move that body!
5. Join the Pure Prevention Campaign

These might all be useful, good ideas, but they have nothing at all to do with breast cancer.
Everything has something to do with the huge amount of cancers today.
Prevention is the KEY. However (and here I reveal my biases), I believe the whole breast cancer "thing" has become nothing more than another money-maker for agencies that do little to promote prevention.
In 1979, when I was pregnant and read everything I could get my hands on about healthy choices during and after pregnancy (it was a very limited resource base), there was documented a very strong correlation between breastfeeding and lower breast cancer rates.
In other words, women who breastfed their babies had (have) a significantly lower incidence of breast cancer. There are a number of theories, including the maturation of the breast cells caused by breastfeeding, ergo the cells are more resistant to cancers.
Since 1979, some research has been done, but gosh, if we prevented cancers, who would profit??
Why aren't ALL the big money-making "research" agencies spreading the word? Most women are capable of breastfeeding their babies (with the right information and support).
The only conclusion is that there is no money in prevention ... the pharmaceutical companies and infant formula companies would be affected if every woman breastfed her baby!
(And I've been inundated with lame comments like "not every woman can", and believe me, I have fact-based arguments for those comments, too).
So thank you for posting this information. Anyone who thinks toxins have nothing to do with breast cancer isn't living in the real world.
It's late now, and this comment might not get read, but did you know that breastfeeding your child reduces your risk of getting breastcancer "by about 4.3 percent for every 12 months she breast-fed. The risk went down 7 percent more for every child born." (CNN.com). Save the breasts -- use them for their intended purpose!
